Are you Ready for Fall?

The transition from summer to fall is a unique and beautiful time.  Tree leaves become works of art, as their colors shift and change.  The light of the sky transitions to a muted hue making way for cooler days ahead.  We watch flowers and gardens change as the final harvest of the year approaches.

Just as the temperature changes from summer to fall, our routines need to change in how we take care of ourselves.  Our skin, hair, and nails require different maintenance during this crisper and cooler season.  It is important to get a jump on this transition.

We have some tips on how to prepare yourself for the upcoming season change to fall.

Smoothing the Skin Tone

Also known as age spots, liver spots, freckles, and birth marks, pigmentation causes the skin to look uneven with its varied color.

Melanin is the name of this pigment and it is responsible for absorbing those harmful UV rays that come from the sun.  The more sun exposure we have, the more melanin is deposited, and as a result, the skin gets darker.  A dark tan is due to this same process (from natural sunlight, or artificial).  Overproduction of melanin, or hyperpigmentation, can also be a result of acne scarring, hormonal changes, and nutritional deficiency or prescription drugs.

We take notice of this process after seeing color patches surface on our faces, but by this time it is too late.  The sun damage has already been done.

However, don't lose hope because there are options out there to help in decreasing the appearance of hyperpigmentation in addition to smoothing and evening out the skin tone.  Several types of treatments are available to improve the appearance of your skin.  Talk with me to learn about the best options for you.  I look forward to working with you to achieve beautiful, radiant skin.
